Call for Abstracts

Following the many requests,
the online submission system will be re-activated
from Thursday 22 until Sunday 25 February 2018.

Please note there will be no further extensions.
Abstract sent outside the online submission system
will not be considered.

The deadline to submit abstracts for posters remains unchanged
at February 28th, 2018

Participants will have the opportunity to contribute actively to the scientific programme submitting their contributions for presentation as:

  • Oral Communications (in Italian) - presenters will be allotted 8 minutes to present their chosen topic, which must be related to the themes of the congress
  • Free Communications in English - presenters will be allotted 8 minutes to present their chosen topic
  • Videos - videos lasting not more than 10 minutes may be presented. Authors are requested to send an abstract of the video; afterwards they will be contacted from the Secretariat to arrange how to send the video
  • Posters - posters will be displayed electronically throughout the Congress, but they shall not be presented orally

Authors may submit only one abstract as a personal submission and may appear as coauthors in other abstracts.

To send your abstract, please access the online submission system and register as “NEW USER”; the system will give you the log-in information (Username and Password) necessary to enter the abstract submission system.

The abstract text may not exceed 4000 characters (spaces included), tables or images may not be included. Your abstract must be submitted online, no faxed or mailed abstracts will be accepted.

  • Oral Communications

    Authors may submit only one abstract as a personal submission and may appear as coauthors in other abstracts. The abstract must refer to one of the proposed congress topics.
    Time allotted for the presentation (in Italian): 8 minutes
    Abstract submission deadline: 15 February 2018 (new extended deadline)
    Authors are responsible for verifying that all information sent is correct, as the abstract will be reproduced exactly as submitted.
    Abstracts sent via the online submission system are not subsequently modifiable.

  • Free Communications in English

    Free Communications in English may deal with any subject within the scope of Otorhinolaryngology. Authors may submit only one Free Communication as a personal submission (Presenter) but may appear as co-authors in other Free Communications.
    The number of Free Communications which will be accepted is strictly related to the planned Congress times and to the evaluation of the Referees.
    Time allotted for the oral presentation: 8 minutes.
    Deadline for Free Communication submission: 15 February 2018 (extended deadline)
    Free Communication abstracts have to be submitted through the online system only.

    How to submit an abstract for a Free Communication in English

    1. Enter the online submission system through the link above
    2. Insert the abstract title
    3. Select the topic among the following ones: (if the chosen topic is not present among those listed, choose “other”):

    4. Select as presentation preference >> FREE COMMUNICATION IN ENGLISH
      The Scientific Committee reserves the right to evaluate the abstracts received and accept or reject them for presentation as Free Communications in English

    5. Insert the text subdivided into the following sections:
      Rationale - Materials and Methods - Results - Conclusions The text must not exceed 4000 characters (spaces included), no tables or charts can be included. Please avoid abbreviations unless they have been previously explained or are self-explanatory. Since you enter the procedure the time at disposal for each session is 20 minutes; if you do not complete your abstract you can log-in again one or more times. We suggest you edit your abstract in advance and cut/paste it into the online submission form

    6. Insert the Correspondent with name, postal address, email address and telephone Insert the Authors in the order you wish them to appear with name, affiliation and email address and specify the Presenting Author (one affiliation at most for each Author) You can modify your abstract as many times as you wish until you decide to send it by clicking on “SEND ABSTRACT”. Abstracts sent are not subsequently modifiable, Authors are responsible for verifying that all information sent is correct, as it will be reproduced exactly as submitted

    7. Once the abstract has been sent, the submission system will generate an acknowledgement of receipt with the Abstract ID, which will be sent via email to the Correspondent In case of problems during the abstract submission or failure to receive the confirmation email, please contact the Organizing Secretariat at sio2018@meetandwork.com

    Notification of acceptance or rejection by the Organizing Secretariat will be made to the Correspondent by

  • Videos
    Authors may submit only one video case, on any ENT-related topic, as a personal submission and another video case as coauthors. Maximum duration of a Video: 10 minutes
    New abstract submission deadline: 15 February 2018
    An abstract of the video will have to be sent through the online submission system. Subsequently the Authors will be contacted by the Secretariat with indications on how to send the video, which will have to be an mp4 digital file, maximum size 1 GB, with sound commentary (maximum length 10 minutes, including titles and credits) Authors are responsible for verifying that all information sent is correct, as the abstract and the video will be reproduced exactly as submitted. Abstracts sent via the online submission system are not subsequently modifiable.
  • Poster

    Authors may submit only one poster, on any ENT-related topic, as a personal submission and another poster as coauthor.
    Deadline for poster abstract submission: 28 February 2018 A DIGITAL POSTER AREA will be set up at the Congress venue, with several electronic stations where all posters may be viewed throughout the Congress. Notification of acceptance

The Organizing Secretariat will send the notification of acceptance or rejection to the email address of the Correspondent by
15 March 2018
The inclusion of accepted abstracts in the Book of Abstracts and their presentation at the Congress is subject to the registration presenting author is requested to register at the Congress by
31 March 2018
Failure to register will result in the exclusion of the paper.
